After studying film at York University, Mike charged into the professional world to find only sporadic employment. He was shocked to find that knowledge of such terms as 'Mise-En-Scene" and 'Diegetic Sound' were not as useful as previously thought, no matter how often he brought them up. Scared and hungry, Avion Films took Mike in, who promised it was only for a couple weeks and he would totally help with the rent. He began working as a production assistant and freelance researcher, but after some solid begging he became the head of research and creative assistant to numerous directors on hundreds of pitches. Never knowing when to stop pressing his luck he is now a director at the company, displaying a skill for humour, rich visuals, and a strong attention to detail. Mike has also been recently featured in Shots 'New Directors' issue, which showcases emerging talent from around the world. Ironically, Mike is now encouraged to openly discuss 'Mise-En-Scene' and 'Diegetic Sound', though he's never been quite sure what they mean.
